St Jacques Vikings face their penultimate test of the league season tomorrow, when they travel to Gosport & Fareham seconds.
The newly crowned league champions produced a strong performance in their final home fixture last weekend, as they secured a 68-7 victory over Fareham Heathens.
For this weekends trip Vikings head coach Ray Smart has rotated much of last weeks squad, with eight players returning to the starting XV, including the returning Mitch Smith and Tom Veillard who were part of the Guernsey Raiders squad last weekend.
Captain Matt Lomas has been ruled out through injury, whilst Lucas Barker is being carefully managed with a niggling injury and he rests this week also.
One player definitely ruled out for the foreseeable future is Cam Le Prevost. The flying winger limped off against Romsey two weeks ago, and it has now been confirmed he will need knee surgery and will likely be out of action until next year.
Another player will make their debut this week, Josh Collin has been training with the squad for a number of weeks, and he finally gets his chance this weekend after shaking off a minor injury. He starts in the front-row alongside Corey Wallis and James Mroch, who both return to the side after being rested last week.
Scrum-half Dale Rutledge starts this week after making his return off the bench last weekend, following a holiday back to his native New Zealand. Noah Evans moves to the wing this week after an impressive debut last weekend.
Veillard will steer the Vikings ship from fly-half, joining with John Welbourne at centre to create a double player-maker axis. Joe Le Roux continues at outside centre.
Keiran Williamson and Jacob Smith return to the second-row, whilst last week’s man-of-the-match Phil Le Noury moves to the back-row from hooker. Jack Webber continues after a brilliant performance last week.
At fullback Gearoid Lee is back in the side after recovering from a knee issue, he replaces Lomas this week. Hat-trick man last week Kieran Creber again starts.
On the bench Sam Kissack and Calum Spinney provide the forwards cover, whilst UK university based Luke Jehan makes his first appearance of the season as backs cover.
Kick-off is 12.30PM in the UK, you can follow the game live on our Instagram & Facebook stories.
