Two unbeaten teams, two teams vying for the league title, this weeks game at Footes Lane looks set to be a cracker!
Guernsey St Jacques Vikings welcome the Isle of Wight rugby club on Saturday, as the top two sides in Counties Three Hampshire do battle.
The visitors come into the game off the back of a strong 60-19 victory over Fareham Heathens last week. They have a near perfect record, with only a 27-27 draw against Andover Seconds slightly blemishing it.
The Vikings produced a good performance against another Isle of Wight side last weekend, Ventnor, as they weathered a first-half storm to come away 50-9 winners.
With head coach Ray Smart now back from his holiday, he will once again oversee the side. He has made several changes to the squad from last week, as they go in seek of securing their ninth victory of the campaign.
Dan Rice returns to the fold having missed the past few games, the talented fly-half has played twice for the Vikings this season, and was instrumental in the functioning of their attack. He will provide an exciting and dangerous pair of hands in the no. 10 shirt this week.
Lucas Barker and Tom Veillard are both unavailable this weekend, but Academy Colt prospect Oscar Bailey is again available. He will start at inside-centre with Taylor Quate maintaining his position outside him. Quate has scored fifteen tries this season, and has been the Vikings most potent weapon.
Callum Murdoch has recovered from a hamstring injury and gets an opportunity this weekend at hooker, with Phil Le Noury and James Mroch both rested. Michael Smith and Tom Bray join him in the front-row.
Chris Croft picked up a small injury last week, he will not be out for long but in his place Tor Ritchie-Bandy comes in. Jacob Smith has moved from second-row to the back row this week, starting at no. 8. His brother Mitchell is still receiving from an ankle injury sustained in the Overton friendly match.
On the bench Corey Wallis comes in, as does Tom Yarwood who provide the forwards cover. John Welbourne is the backs replacement.
Kick-off on the club pitch at Footes Lane is 2pm!
