The final whistle of Siam Cup Day 2025 will sound in the Fallaize Cup, as the Vikings represent Guernsey Raiders against Jersey 2nds in the closing fixture of the day.
Jersey currently hold the Fallaize Cup, having edged a narrow win last season by just four points. But after a year of growth under new head coach Layton Batiste, Guernsey Raiders 2nds arrive with a strong 22-man squad. Backed by a solid period of preparation and confident performances towards the end of the season, this year’s contest represents a golden opportunity to bring the cup back to Guernsey.
Batiste has named a squad that blends experience, form players, and exciting young talent.
Ben Holland returns at scrum-half, bringing vision, calmness under pressure and a genuine X-factor to the base of the breakdown. He partners captain Tom Veillard, whose leadership and game management will be central to the team’s performance.
In the midfield, the reliable combination of Callum Gladstone and Matt Lomas-Lloyd continues. Their distribution, communication and defensive organisation have been outstanding all year, and Lomas-Lloyd’s kicking game will be key.
The back three features plenty of attacking threat. Vikings record try scorer Taylor Quate returns to the wing, while Kieran Creber, one of the team’s standout players in 2025, will look to continue his impressive run of form. Gearoid Lee offers flair and creativity from fullback.
In the pack, Guernsey boast a mobile and aggressive unit. Phil Le Noury, who has spent much of the year in National Two action with the Raiders, starts at hooker and brings powerful ball-carrying and experience at the set-piece. He’s joined in the front row by Corey Wallis, who has been one of the Vikings’ most consistent performers this season, and Fraser Kent, a hugely promising young forward who recently earned caps for both Bristol Bears U18s and Scotland U18s. Still based at Taunton School, Kent will make his first senior Siam day appearance.
Mitchell Smith and Angus MacCallum form a strong second-row pairing, with MacCallum adding lineout strength and go-forward after returning to action late in the season. The mobile back row of Chris Croft, Tom Yarwood, and Luke Grigg is designed to bring intensity and pace around the park – key elements in what is expected to be a high-tempo contest.
Guernsey’s bench is packed with quality. Jacob Smith, the standout performer of the Vikings’ season, returns from injury and is set to have a major role to play when introduced. His impact with ball in hand could prove vital.
There is further experience in James Mroch, Lucas Barker, Barnaby Paul, and Cam Le Prevost, all of whom offer proven ability and leadership in tight moments. Jack Webber and Keiran Williamson complete the bench, bringing youthful energy and strong carrying options in the pack.
With last year’s result still fresh in the memory and a determined squad ready to step up, Guernsey Raiders 2nds head to Jersey with one goal, to bring the Fallaize Cup back to Guernsey.
Kick-off is at 6:15pm, rounding off what promises to be a thrilling day of rugby between the islands.
