Taking over the reins from Ray Smart is not going to be an easy task, but we are pleased to have assembled a coaching team that is vastly experienced for this new era of the club.
This new team boasts over 750 appearances for Guernsey Raiders, as well as providing vital playing experience from practically every position across the pitch.
Leading the new coaching group is one of the most capped players in Guernsey Rugby history. Layton Batiste - A legend with over 300 games for Guernsey Raiders, he will seek to drive the new strategy, bringing a wealth of experience and leadership to the Vikings. His scrummaging expertise will also be a huge boost to our set piece.
Layton had confirmed his assistant coaches will be:
- Blair Campbell - Former Guernsey Raiders captain & flyhalf / centre
- Luke Sayer - Experienced former Guernsey Raiders fullback
- Dave McGall - Siam Cup winning forward and also the new Academy Colts coach
- Dan Brown - Our dedicated forwards coach from last season, returning once again to strengthen our pack.
We are incredibly excited for this next phase in our journey.
More details to follow, including hearing from Layton in the coming days!
