Ray Smart’s St Jacques Vikings return from a two week break on Saturday, as we travel to Millbrook looking to continue our positive start to the season.
After successfully coming through a nail biting contest against Locks Heath Pumas in our last match, we are hoping for a better performance this week.
St Jacques have never faced Millbrook previously, but the side from Southampton are likely to provide a decent challenge. They lost out to Sandown & Shanklin by just one point in their last outing, and will be looking to be the first side to defeat Smart’s men in 18 months.
Tom Creed and Dale Rutledge return to the Vikings side to add both experience and quality, having last played in the comprehensive victory over Tottonians Seconds.
Another big game player is included this week, Tom Rihoy is selected in the back row, where he is joined by Mitch Smith and former captain Leon Gardner.
The Vikings forwards unit also includes Phil Le Noury and Jacob Smith, who will be tasked with getting the Guernsey side on the front foot.
The backline is mostly unchanged, Taylor Quate is again unavailable, but the young talented Will Creber gets another shot in the centres, after his early withdrawal through injury two weeks ago.
Matt Lomas captains the side from the wing, whilst Joe Le Roux and Gearoid Lee join him in the wide channels.
One new name in the squad is Ed Duerden, who is in line to make his competitive debut from the replacements.
This is likely to be another test for the Vikings, but with a strong squad available, they will be hopeful of a positive result on Saturday.
