Alec Bailey will skipper the Guernsey Rugby Association Select in this Saturdays official Inter-Insular against Jersey.

The near veteran fly-half has been chosen by Steve Melbourne and his coaching team to lead the side as they aim to defend the trophy they impressively won last season in Jersey.

This fixture will take place at Footes Lane on the Garenne Stand ahead of the Guernsey Raiders fixture with Westcliff. Kick off is 11am, with the Raiders following at 2pm.

Melbourne has been able to name a very strong side, and had over thirty available players to make his selection from for this annual one off fixture. Notably missing is last season captain Jim Regnard and prop Ben Le Noury who both miss out this time around with hamstring issues. Alan Myers starts in the front row, joined by the now experienced Callum Murdoch and Nico Ashplant up front at the coal face. Young second row James Parr, who played so well for St Jacques against Portsmouth recently is off island this weekend, so big Ben Bradley and Jacob Smith get the nod in the engine room. Leon Gardner, Chris Ahne and Jonny Laws make up a mobile back-row.

Young Ben Holland starts at scrum half aiming to provide consistent good ball to his skipper at Fly-half Alec Bailey. The centres are made up of Callum Gladstone and Leon Collenette, both of whom have been in imperious form this season and will be looking to continue that on Saturday. Out wide Brad Webb and Tom Wood start on the wings, whilst the very impressive Taylor Quate returns at Fullback following his recent hamstring injury which kept him out of several games.

Melbourne and his coaching team have also been able to name a strong bench for this fixture. James Mroch provides the front row cover, with Charlie Scott, Hayden Dempsey and Koen-James Le Prevost set to cover the second row and back row respectively. The very talented and versatile Colt Dan Rice is one of three back line replacements, and who will look to offer a different option in attack if brought on. Johan Greenberg provides centre and scrum half cover, whilst John Le Noury is set to provide utility cover. However he will need to come through a late fitness test on Saturday morning, and if he fails to pass that then winger Shane Taylor will step in.

From all at St Jacques RFC we wish the very best to Steve, his coaches and the squad as they go in search of another Inter-Insular victory!

Come on you Black and Greens!!!!
